Since its inception as an oil explorer in 1999, Stuart Petroleum Ltd has grown to now produce around 20 percent of oil from the South Australian sector of the Cooper Basin.

Stuart’s growth has been, and will remain, targeted at:
- The acquisition of additional Cooper Basin acreage to leverage off excellent operating capabilities.
- Product processing, refining and marketing to capture the value add component of hydrocarbon discoveries.
- The acquisition of additional exploration tenements elsewhere in Australia and overseas to provide further organic growth potential
Significant activity is focused on:
- Port Bonython Fuels Pty Ltd(PBF), which agreed purchase terms of a 74 hectacre parcel of land from the South Australian Government in May 2009 for the development of Stage 1 of the PBF fuels storage, processing and supply facility. A "Crown Sponsored" Development Application was lodged and State Government approval received on 7th January 2010.
