Exploration
This licence has had previous exploration drilling (3 exploration wells) and a 2D seismic survey prior to Stuart earning an interest and Operatorship.
Stuart farmed in to the licence and acquired 50% interest by paying for the drilling and completion of Cleansweep 1. Cleansweep 1 was drilled in October, 2007 and discovered oil in the Birkhead Formation. The well was completed as an oil well with a pump and produced 6746 barrels of oil before being shut-in due to low production rates. A petroleum retention licence (PRL) application is in preparation to secure the Cleansweep area.
Development
Following the recovery of oil from the Birkhead Formation in Cleansweep 1 on test, an Extended Production Test facility was established and a pump was run into the well. Log and pressure data indicate that the Birkhead reservoir is a north-south channel crossing the structure where access to the oil is restricted because of the linear nature of the reservoir.
Seismic
The Angelica 3D survey has been proposed over the oil prospects and leads along the southern and eastern licence margins. The survey is proposed to cover 285km2 and the timing is expected to be in May/June 2010. This will depend on ground conditions drying out after recent local rains.
A 2D seismic reprocessing and inversion trial is being undertaken in an attempt to identify the extent of Birkhead channel sand developments near Cleansweep and the Santos operated Tarragon Oil Field. If successful the project will be expanded from its first pass pilotscale.
Licence Management
The licence was renewed in 2008 with a reduction in area of 50% and a work program consisting of four years of geological and geophysical studies with a guaranteed exploration well in the fifth year.
Discoveries and Potential
Current mapping of the PEL 100 licence area indicates a total of 8 oil prospects with a total of 32 oil leads with a total unrisked mean oil in place of 23.8 million barrels.
Drilling
Drilling in PEL 100 will be delayed until the Angelica 3D seismic is acquired, processed and interpreted.
Angelica 2 (Angelica Updip) has been nominated as the first prospect to be drilled in 2011.
